Thomas N. Olvitt
Known by Tom in most circles, Thomas N. Olvitt is the President and Owner of Trust Shield Insurance Group. He also works as an agent in the Schoolcraft office. He started the company in February 1993.
At the Office
Tom earned a bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University and is a Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) and Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow (LUTCF). He has worked in the insurance industry since 1990. He formed the company in 1993 and has served as an agent. Always a team player, he’s also been known to clean the bathrooms on occasion.
His official responsibilities include meeting with clients, coaching and supporting the staff and agents, and maintaining company-carrier relations. Meeting with clients is his favorite part of his job.
At Home
A lifelong resident of the Kalamazoo area, Tom enjoys hunting and fishing in his spare time as well as spending time with his family. He is a history buff with a fondness for sushi.
He and his wife Penny have been married since 1984. The couple has three grown children; Tanner and his wife Kendra, Daniel and his wife Natalee, and Kurt.
Tom is fortunate to work alongside his sons, Dan and Tanner, daughter-in-law Natalee, and brother, Jeff, at Trust Shield.
